Hytrin is a medication that belong to a group of drugs called alpha-adrenergic blockers. The way these work is that they help to relax veins as well as arteries so your blood doesn’t have to work so hard in order to pass through them. It also helps to relax muscles inside the prostate and bladder neck, which is going to make it easier to urinate.
The main purpose of Hytrin is to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) or to help with urination problems in men who suffer from a condition known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (an enlarged prostate).
Hytrin might also be able to be used for some purposes not mentioned above.
If you decide to use Hytrin, then what are some of the side effects you might put yourself at risk of as a result?
Allergic reactions-Look for symptoms such as hives, difficulty breathing, swelloing in the face, lips, tongue or throat.
Fast or pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest
Feeling like you might pass out
Swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet
Penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer
What are some of the less serious side effects you might be at risk of if you use this treatment?
Is Hytrin the best option for your condition?
The fact is there are so many different treatment options out there for high blood pressure, that the only way you could know this for sure would be to test them all. Obviously you won’t be able to do this nor would you want to. So the next best way to know if this treatment would be best for you would be finding out what’s the main risk presented with it.
Now all medications come with the chances of side effects, but some come with either more or a higher chance to experience a particular one. A common side effect is getting a headache. This isn’t too bad. The more severe ones would pose a problem though. When a doctor decides to give you Hytrin, it’s because they’ve decided that this treatment would be the safest for you to use and will work well.
A doctor has had a chance to look at your medical history, run some tests, and they’ll feel good that the condition they prescribe this to you for will be greatly helped. If there are other options out there that you know work better, this doesn’t mean they’ll be the best option for you. Not every medication works the same way with every person. It goes on a case by case basis. Not only this, but you have to factor in such things like current health and any other medications a person might be using.
All of this is going to be a factor in whether or not a doctor would feel comfortable prescribing Hytrin. You also have to factor in things such as price, which can vary from option to option.
